As SUNKO Project, we are undertaking a critical role in the Zengezur corridor, which will connect the western regions of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and create a new transport network with Turkey. With the liberation of the Azerbaijani army after 44 days of war and the historical declaration signed between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, the region has stepped into a process of peace and economic revival thanks to new transport lines.
In this process, which envisages the opening of economic and transport lines that have been closed for many years due to the Karabakh conflict, we, as SUNKO Project, are playing an important role in the construction of the Zangezur corridor, emphasised by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. This corridor will restore road and rail links not only between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, but also with Turkey and other Turkic republics.
As Dr Telman Nusretoglu of Caspian University points out, the Zangezur corridor is of great importance for regional cooperation, trade revival and the revival of the historic Silk Road. Moreover, as a project where the interests of Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan coincide, it offers Armenia an opportunity to break out of isolation and increase prosperity.
As SUNKO Project, we are proud to take part in this large and strategic project. With the realisation of the Zengezur corridor, we aim to make significant contributions to the economic and social development of the countries in the region
