Kahramanmaraş has taken another significant step to improve traffic flow. The Metropolitan Municipality of Kahramanmaraş has opened the newly completed junction, previously known as Çukurova Junction, now renamed Abdülhamit Han Junction by the decision of the Metropolitan Municipality Council, to service. Speaking at the opening, Fatih Mehmet Erkoç, the Mayor of Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality, expressed his joy over the opening of the junction and emphasized that efforts to strengthen the city’s transportation infrastructure are ongoing.
Mayor Erkoç highlighted that, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Highways, more projects aimed at easing transportation in Kahramanmaraş would be implemented. He stated that by the end of 2018, the city’s transportation issues would be largely resolved, noting that the completion of the Northern Ring Road and other elevated junction projects would further improve traffic flow. He also mentioned that there was a month-long delay in the construction of the Abdülhamit Han Junction due to a problem with the natural gas infrastructure, but the issue was resolved, and the project was successfully completed.
Erkoç also indicated that more steps would be taken to prevent traffic congestion in Kahramanmaraş, mentioning four new junction projects planned in the city and to be undertaken by the General Directorate of Highways. These projects include the Market Junction, Station Junction, Arsan Junction, and Industrial Junction. He added that plans are being made for Sakarya and Doğukent passages in the Dulkadiroğlu region, and these projects would commence after obtaining the necessary permits from the Monuments Council. These developments stand out as significant steps towards improving traffic flow and strengthening the transportation infrastructure in Kahramanmaraş.
